Standing on two decades of collegiate coaching experience, Blank has catalogued soccer's most common mistakes and provides simple, connect-the-dots solutions to help players solve their soccer problems. Soccer iQ is soccer's first text book for players; an almanac of smarter soccer decisions intended to flatten out the learning curve. It covers everything from hunting rebounds to the value of the toe-ball; from playing in the rain to the world's dumbest foul.
Blank tells his story from the familiar and humorous voice of a coach who has endured years of stress at the hands of his players. Written in plain-spoken language, Soccer iQ is an easy read and a quick-fix to the most common yet critically important soccer problems. Includes a bonus chapter on the college recruiting process.

Perspective from a HS Varsity Coach
By Consumer
I have the joy of assistant-coaching along side the top HS Boys Varsity Soccer coach in the USA. Our coaching team has frequently referenced Dan Blank's IQ1 and IQ2 as the most comprehensive sources of easily taught, though powerful, how-to-play-soccer concepts. I have watched players adopt Dan's lessons immediately create more opportunities for themselves and their team. We have had the HS boys read his IQ 1 book and the coaches draw ideas from the IQ 1 & 2 books all season long.
I recommended Dan's books to all engaged parents, and tested his lessons with select club players ranging from U10-U14 with great results. If you want to get more out of your passing, ball control, movement on the field, and your attacking/defending skills, the Soccer IQ1&2 are fantastic. One bit of advice.... don't try to adopt every lesson at once. Read through the books and then incrementally add to your game 1 or 2 of the ideas each week or two. If that is too fast, add 1 idea every 3+ weeks. Focus on getting the concept to work for you before moving on to another lesson.

Fantastic book for soccer players!
By M. Forrest
A really good book. Lots of common sense advice. I read the book and gave it to my ten year old son. He loves it! He has been asking me questions to clarify some of the pointers but generally understands most of the concepts. I really like that the chapters are short and concise. My favorite is the one on using the "toe kick" with a reference to a YouTube video that brings the point home. A must for soccer players young and old.

one of the smart dads from our High School Soccer Team encouraged me ...
By Michael J Lind
Several Years ago, one of the smart dads from our High School Soccer Team encouraged me to increase my Soccer IQ so I'd have more credibility discussing Soccer with my son. I greatly regret not finding and reading this book sooner. After reading most of the book and I'm about finished, I've purchased 4 other of Dan Blanks books and started reading Happy Feet (for Soccer Parents) as well. These books are a must if you want your child to thrive at soccer AND Enjoy the game more. I love how short and concise the chapters are. Easy read and the better your son or daughter understands these concepts, the more playing time they are likely to get. I've seen my son play at Soccer Camps at Akron University and be a huge difference maker. I've seen him play for his High School and now College coaches and not play to his potential which is naturally frustrating for him. Why is he so much more aggressive at a Soccer Camp and not for his HS or College Coach? I think it's too much of a focus on trying to do everything perfectly and not doing the little things that come instinctively to smart players that can make a huge difference even for non technical players. At the College Level, you have to play faster and to play faster you have to be smarter. I'm excited to give this book to my son when he comes home from College next week. There's so many little things most players can do better that can elevate their game and the game of their team mates. I so wish I had purchased this book 4 years ago.
